That’s good news — for the press, for investors, for shareholders, and ideally, for us as well. Data centers are the Godzillas of electricity consumption. Google’s own electricity consumption has tripled over the last decade. Fortunately, the company has made huge strides over the past decade in improving the energy efficiency of its data centers. But it’s safe to say that when Google started concentrating on energy efficiency in its data centers, they weren’t thinking about the environment. They were thinking about money.
